Tarbolton Shines Brighter Than Ever: £7,110 Awarded to Expand "Light Up Tarbolton" Christmas Spectacular!

Tarbolton Community Council is thrilled to announce that the Light Up Tarbolton Christmas project has been awarded £7,110 by The National Lottery Community Fund. This funding will allow us to continue and expand the highly successful project, which brightened up the village last year with festive lights and a celebratory community event.

In 2023, we received £4,585 to launch the Light Up Tarbolton project, which saw Christmas lights installed along the village’s main street for the very first time, creating a festive atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. The project culminated in a light switch-on event that was attended by hundreds of people, including local dignitaries and community members.

With this year’s increased funding, we are excited to announce that the Light Up Tarbolton event will return, bigger and better, on Saturday 30th November 2024 (TBC). The event will again be organised and run by Tarbolton Community Council, bringing festive cheer to our village as we light up Tarbolton for a second year.

Positive Community Impact

The overwhelming success of last year’s project had a tremendous impact on the community. According to feedback from attendees:

One local resident, shared her thoughts:
“The Christmas lights last year really brought everyone together. It lifted our spirits and gave us something to look forward to. I’m so glad to hear that the event will return and can’t wait to see what’s planned this year!”

Councillor Iain Campbell, Lord Provost of South Ayrshire, attended last year’s event and spoke highly of the occasion:
“I was delighted to be invited along to help switch on the Christmas lights at the first-ever Light Up Tarbolton event! I’d like to extend my thanks to all of the organisers who made such a fantastic event possible.”

What’s Next?

This year, the Tarbolton Community Council is committed to making the event even more spectacular. With increased funding, the village will see additional Christmas lights, and plans are underway to expand the event with more activities, entertainment, and festive attractions for all ages.

We are incredibly grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for their continued support, which enables us to bring the joy and magic of Christmas to Tarbolton in such a meaningful way.

Mark your calendars for Saturday 30th November 2024 (TBC), and join us as we once again Light Up Tarbolton! Further details of the event will be announced closer to the date.
